Bind works with food handlers to help them reduce their food waste. We  follow the food waste hierarchy, prioritising source prevention over redistribution because this is the most effective way to eliminate waste and it translates to a greater financial saving to the organisation through reduced costs of purchasing, energy, labour and disposal. 


We first measure baseline food waste levels using a range of techniques, engaging staff in the intervention is very important to its success. We then analyse trends of frequently wasted foods and their causes, before producing recommendations on how to prevent this waste and evaluating their effectiveness. 

Preventing food waste in this way has been shown to be highly cost effective, returning £14 for every £1 invested*, as well as the huge social and environmental benefits.
